FAQ's
What is Equus Coaching?
Equus Coaching is a unique, experiential process where a horse helps reflect your inner world — offering powerful insight, clarity, and emotional awareness. It’s not about learning to ride or care for horses. Instead, through groundwork interactions, the horse becomes a mirror, helping you better understand patterns, emotions, and behaviors that may be holding you back.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Both can be deeply supportive, but the orientation is different:
-
Therapy → past-focused, healing, emotional repair.
-
Coaching → present & future-focused, growth, forward movement.
Who is it for?
Equus Coaching is suitable for adults of all backgrounds. You don’t need any prior experience with horses — just a willingness to be present, curious, and open to learning.
What issues can Equus Coaching help with?
• Stress, burnout, or overwhelm
• Life transitions
• Confidence and self-trust
• Emotional awareness and regulation
• Boundary-setting
• Finding purpose or clarity
• Reconnecting with your true self

What happens in a session?
Sessions are held outdoors and typically last 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged. You’ll work alongside a horse and a certified Equus Coach® to explore whatever themes are present in your life. All work is done on the ground — there is no riding involved.
What should I wear?
• Closed-toe shoes (boots are ideal)
• Weather-appropriate, comfortable clothing
• Layers for warmth, sun protection, or rain gear, depending on the season
Where do sessions take place?
All sessions are held at:
Folly Farm Equestrian
Forest Road, Tarporley, CW6 9ES
Cancellation Policy
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full.
Is it therapy?
Equus Coaching is not psychotherapy. While deeply therapeutic in nature, it is a coaching process focused on insight, awareness, and forward movement. As a qualified and registered MBACP psychotherapist in the UK, if deeper psychological support is needed, we can discuss how this can be incorporated into your coaching sessions.
Anything else I should know?
• Horses are sensitive and responsive to human energy — they offer honest, non-judgmental feedback.
• Sessions are conducted at your pace. You’re never asked to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
• This is a safe, inclusive space for all.
